These signs posted on street lamp poles in Cape Town celebrate the soccer spirit that is overtaking the whole country.
It seems nearly every city vehicle or city building is festooned with the Cape Town/South Africa 2010 logo seen on this police truck and the above street flags.
In less than a month's time, this street signs will direct throngs of spectators to a large outdoor screen for viewing World Cup matches.
As these downtown Cape Town advertisements show, nearly every advertiser in the world is realizing the branding bonanza of associating its products with the worldwide passion and pageantry of next month's tournament.
Cape Town's Green Point Stadium, shown above, will play host to the opening match of the tournament on Friday, June 11, pitting France against Uruguay. The venue is also earmarked as a host for the quarterfinals and semifinals in July. The stadium was the source of much national and international anxiety as it went over its building schedule, and put the future of the South African bid in jeopardy. However the stadium reached its completion early this year and its 70,000 seats will promise to be among the world's best places to sing, drink, and dance to the Beautiful Game.
