Also it is worth the pain to mention that Barcelona has gained last the four encounter between the parts, with both last end by 1-0 and 2-0. This it said that it will be a very even party between two equipment with his better alignments and Barcelona is not certainly a given winner. We have decided to make a copy of Barcelona, nevertheless, as it plays in house and have more homogenous equipment, than have demonstrated in the Classic one before. Our advice bets will be Barcelona win. Barcelona has a very impressive file in this apparatus does little-if it is that to win here they are going to be what is of five years in a row, a feat that many equipment cannot hope to obtain before Real Madrid. The fact is that it is not as if it is an equipment far better that the Real one, as it demonstrates the table of the league for us, with the Real one is seated just over the Catalans. The fact is that it is not as if it is an equipment far better that the Real one, as it demonstrates the table of the league for us, with the Real one is seated just over the Catalans. 1. It's El Clásico tonight. So the two big rivals from the Spanish side will face each other for the finals of Spanish Copa del Rey match on Wednesday 20 April, 2011. El Clásico is the name given to any soccer match played between Real Madrid and Barcelona. It comes twice a year in the Spanish La Liga , and more often if the clubs meet in other competitions. Other than the UEFA Champions League Final, it is the most followed club football match in the world, watched by hundreds of millions of people around the globe.

  2. n the last clash between the two, Barcelona defeated Real Madrid by 5-0 on November 29, 2010 and also, Barcelona have won their last five matches against Madrid, representing their best sequence of results against the nine-time European champions. Both teams did really well in the quarter finals stage of UEFa champions League as Barcelona defeated Shakhtar on 6-1 aggregate and Real Madrid defeated Tottenham Hotspur on 5-0 aggregate. So both teams will be geared up for this match as they step their feet at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu tonight. This match will be kicked off at 9:00 PM British Standard Time. Let's take a look at the possible line-ups for tonight:

  3. The Copa del Rey (in English that would be The King's Cup) or to give it its full name "Campeonato de España – Copa de Su Majestad El Rey Don Juan Carlos" is the biggest annual football cup competition for Spanish football. This year's final is a mouth watering clash, as table topping Barcelona take on second place Real Madrid.

  4. For those of you counting, the Cup Final will be the second meeting of four between these two sides in just 18 days. Firstly they faced off at the weekend in La Liga, which was a 1-1 draw (not the 2-1 I predicted, but close!) and they still have a two legged Champions League semi final clash to look forward to (on Wednesday 27 April & Tuesday 3 May).

It's worth noting that most bookies have soccer odds around 2/5 on Barcelona reaching the Champions League final, and 7/4 on Real making it there and to go on and win the competition the sportsbooks have Madrid at 10/3 and Barcelona at 11/1

  5. This copa is Spain’s premier cup competition and dates back to 1902. The most consistent winners of this cup are FC Barcelona who have won the cup 25 times (with 9 additional runners up medals), and have won their last three finals in a row. Real Madrid aren't quite in a position to take that record yet, they have 17 wins and 19 runners up spots. For the pedants out there in second place there is Atletico Bilbao with 23 wins, although they haven't won since 1984.

Barcelona are the favourites to win the cup this time round and they're at 17/20 with Victor Chandler and 10/11 with Paddy Power. Real will be keen to score a big victory over their EL Classico rivals, as last weekend's draw looks to have confirmed that Barca will take La Liga this year (they are leading Madrid by eight points with just six games remaining). There's still plenty for Madrid to play for as lifting a trophy would (almost) equal a league win, while taking the trophy from the grasp of their local rivals would be platinum. The sportsbooks don't seem to think they have it in them, Paddy Power have them winning at 11/4 and Victor Chandler has them lifting the trophy at 3/1.

  6. Real should feel that they are due a win, their last visit to the final was in 2004, but they haven't won since 1993. If you have the guts for a good bet, look into the teams winning each half. Victor Chandler offer Barcelona winning both halves at 15/8, Madrid winning both halves at 5/1 and a very tempting 33/1 on Barcelona winning the first half but Madrid taking the match. That's where I'm putting my "cheeky bet".

  7. Barcelona by comparison will feel that they deserve their trophy, having last won in 2009 when they beat Bilbao 4-1. Also Barcelona will want to re-establish their El Classico dominance after Saturday's draw in the Bernabeu ended a run of five successive Clasico wins

  8. History and stats seem to favour Barcelona, in four cup final meetings against Madrid, Barcelona have won three. Real also seem to be out of the winning habit, since they last lifted the trophy in 1993, they have made the final only twice, losing both times in 2002 and 2004 to Deportivo La Coruna (2-1) and Real Zaragoza (3-2).

  9. First among equals

Leaving history to one side, there's very little to separate the two sides in this competition, Barca have scored 22 goals (letting in just four) and Real have scored 20 (letting in seven) counting just the games of the last 32. The 1-1 from the weekend would also suggest a close game, draw after 90 minutes is 3/1 with Victor Chandler.

  10. It was a tight and hard fought encounter at the Bernabeu, the home side played very defensively. It took a Lionel Messi penalty to break the deadlock (his first goal against a Jose Mourinho led team), and Barcelona must have fancied the game was theirs as Raul Albion was dismissed in conceding the foul (that led to the penalty). Real Madrid looked to be facing the second home defeat of the month before Marcelo was "helped to the ground" inside the Barcelona box by Dani Alves, allowing Cristiano Ronaldo to level from the spot (and break his Barcelona goal duck). Real's confidence boost of snatching a point will be complemented with a man advantage as Barca look likely to be without captain Carles Puyol for the final as the defender strained a hamstring at the Bernabeu.

  11. The safest bet in the world is that this will be an entertaining clash but picking the winner will require lots of thinking and plenty of luck. I'm backing Madrid, almost just because they look like they want it more.

  12. Madrid have got the better of Barcelona so far, having won the Copa Del Rey final and tied the league cup fixture with ten men. However, with the stakes as high as a place in the Champions League final, it'll be safe to say that the real battle starts here.

Barcelona faced a Madrid side who were content with sitting at the back and soaking the pressure, or to use Madrid manager Jose Mourinho's famous words "parked the bus". However, with away goals coming into the fray, Madrid need to score more. They have just two goals in their last three games against Barcelona, one of which came from the spot. The Catalans, on the other hand, handed Madrid a drubbing of 5-0 at the Nou Camp earlier in the season when the whites looked to play Barca with their own game.

  13. On the eve of Real Madrid and Barcelona's El Clasico two-legged UEFA Champions League clash, more and more people are chiming in on the Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi debate.

Argentina Football Association President Julio Grondona didn't say who he favors in the Ronaldo-Messi question, it's safe to say he favors Messi.

He doesn't think Messi is there yet, but thinks that Messi will go on to be the best footballer of all time. This is high praise considering Messi isn't even yet considered the best player in the history of his country—that honor still belongs to the volatile Diego Maradona

  14. Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas lauded the influence of manager Jose Mourinho after his side beat La Liga rivals Barcelona to clinch their first Copa del Rey trophy since 1993.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored an extra-time header to defeat Pep Guardiola's side 1-0, and the Spanish 'keeper was quick to praise the impact that the Portuguese coach has made at the Bernabeu.

  15. “Our mentality has been changed. Mou [Jose Mourinho] is a phenomenon," Casillas told reporters after the match.
"Today, we have suffered badly, but we have won a trophy that's coveted by all Madrid fans.

"We thank them for their support and we can repay them now that we have finally won a trophy. I am very happy."

And the shot-stopper did not waste any time before turning his attentions to their Champions League semi-final ties against Barcelona, what will be the third and fourth clashes in 18 days.

    ReplyDelete
  16. “Now we have a Champions League semi-final to look forward to,” Casillas added.

"We know that the league is complicated but we must always fight for everything.

Real Madrid will return to the Mestalla on Saturday to take on Valencia in La Liga before hosting Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Santiago Bernabeu

  17. Real Madrid and Barcelona will meet at 2:45 p.m. today (FX, Fox Deportes, foxsoccer.tv; encore at 5 p.m. on Fox Soccer Channel) in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal.

It’s the third of four meetings between the two rivals in the past two weeks, and they’ll meet again in the second leg next week at Barcelona.

  18. Real Madrid v Barcelona – 2011 Champions League

With over a hundred different types of bets offered for those betting on Real Madrid vs Barcelona on Bet365, it would be time consuming and not practical to go over each single one. Instead, we’ve highlighted below 3 bets that look enticing.

    1) Real Madrid vs Barcelona to end in a draw (9/4 , 3.25): We’ve already highlighted this in our match preview post, but we feel like a draw is the most likely result in the first leg at the Bernabeu. Putting aside the fact that they’ve drawn their last 2 matches (in 90 minutes), the fact that this is a two match affair will take pressure away from both sides and neither will be displeased making turning this match into a one match contest.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 2) Match to end 0-0 (8/1, 9.0): If you feel the above bet is not to your liking, the least you could do is place a little teaser bet on the match to end 0-0. Consider it a little insurance policy against this being a boring match. If there are goals you’re happy as a viewer, if it ends up being 0-0 then you make 8x what you staked on the game. Win-win situation.

    ReplyDelete
  20. 3) Less than 6.5 cards in the match (4/5 , 1.8): The El Clasico has been known to be a heated and physical affair, but several factors suggest that we aren’t likely to see many cards in todays game. One of the main points is that this is a two legged affair, and with several players on the verge of suspension already with just one more yellow, they will be extra careful not to commit careless tackles. Mourinho has been known to lose players to red cards against Barcelona, but once again the Portugese mastermind will have taken the necessary precautions to ensure that doesn’t happen at home in the first match of the tie. With the two clubs having met twice in the last 2 weeks, some of the anxiety will be lost and players should be in control of themselves despite the stature of the occasion.

  22. Today's Clasico has all the makings of a great game. Two absolute giants in futbol. Two rivals. The game's Ballon d'Or best player for the last two years. Surrounded by two teammates who finished just behind him in this year's voting, both of whom held the World Cup last summer, and the EURO two summers before that. The Ballon d'Or winner from 2 years ago, & last year's runner-up. The self-proclaimed "greatest" manager in the game, trying to repeat as Champions League winner with a different club. Teams that dueled to a 1-1 draw just over a week ago. Each goal scored by each team's leader mentioned above.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So, why then, am I hesitant that the game won't live up to its billing?

For one, the 1-1 draw wasn't a beautiful game, no matter what Jose Mourinho will tell you. He's a tactical genius, there's no doubting that. But having lost 5-0 to Barcelona earlier in the season, he realized there was no way to beat Barca at their game of technical grace, and changed things up a bit - with excellent results. With a lineup similar to the Galacticos a decade ago - Ronaldo, Zidane, Figo, Beckham, Owen, & Roberto Carlos - Real Madrid once again have an offensive arsenal so strong that their subs would be snarters on most clubs. Madrid players average $7 million per season. Winning doesn't come cheap.

  24. But in the last match, Mou moved some of his star attacking players to the bench in return for defensive players in the middle of the pitch, and thereby, taking away Barca's ability to pass and move so freely in that area. The tactician had also ordered that the grass be left long, and it did slow down both the game, and Barcelona's offense, which dominated the opening 20 minutes with over 80% of possession.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Madrid finished the game with 10 players, after Albiol was sent off in the 51st minute. Had the referee not already sent him off, he certainly could've done the same to either Pepe, Alonso, or Arbeloa, for their consistent and sometimes dangerous tackles. And both goals came from the penalty spot.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The last time Mourinho faced Barcelona in a Champions League match was last year's semi-final. The game cannot be talked about without mentioning Barcelona's Busquets and his clear dive after challenging Inter's Motta from behind. Motta's arms went up as the ball approaced the sideline, and Busquets went down in pain, holding his hands to his face. Replays clearly showed that his face was never touched. And the chants of Barcelona's brilliance with the ball was mixed with heckles of diving when things didn't go their way.

  27. Sure, players get caught up in the heat of the moment of any futbol match. Throw in a rivalry. A Champions League contest. A semi-final. The 3rd of 4 matches against the same opponent in less than a month. And neither team willing to go down 2-0 in the first leg like Schalke did to Manchester United 24 hours earlier. Mix those ingredients together, and while the potential for this match to be one of the most beautiful that the beautiful game can offer, I'm holding my breath. The talents with the ball at the feet of whichever 22 men start will be second to no other 22 on a Champions League game we've seen this year. I just hope we will see more of that than of Madrid fouling, Barcelona diving, and Guardiola & Mourinho squaring off again before the 2nd leg. I hope to see a real Clasico.
