Squeaky Bum Time!

Squeaky bum time is a phrase that Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed to coin, and it basically means that all the pressure is concentrated on the one game in front you.  For a literal definition just use your imagination.  Liverpool FC will be wearing diapers as they take the field knowing they have quite the task tonight away at Lyon.  It seems like each game they play is the game of the season for them and this one will be no different.  Liverpool must avoid defeat if they want to have any hopes of progressing to the knock out stages.  In fact, if they are beaten today then the best they can hope for is a solid run in the Europa league and maybe an FA Cup title.  Not quite the football trophies they were looking to challenge for at the beginning of the season.  What makes matters worse is that their captain, Steven Gerrard, will be missing and Torres seems to less than 100% fit for the tie.

This game has a lot of potential devastating factors to follow if Liverpool lose.  One is they can count on that much less Champions League money.  According to Rafa they already don’t get as much money as their Premier League rivals so that will not help matters in the future.  Also this could be one more nail in the coffin of Senor Benitez as this will no doubt be the biggest news story of the campaign so far and one that his American owners will probably not be too happy to hear.

Can Liverpool win today in Lyon?  Will this be the real start to their season that they have been looking for?
